Bell WOD

About

This site was created around kettlebells, but really bells of any kind, dumbbells, barbells, cowbells, taco bells..

I love kettlebells. I think they're great. I discovered them through CrossFit and became addicted. I love using them for accessory movements, but sometimes I just want to get out of breath.

There's plenty of information out there on kettlebell movements, but I've found very little on doing a true metcon-style workout. Many existing workouts are based on supersets, getting a certain amount of reps done, and often have built-in rest. As much as I love rest, sometimes I just want to get some shit done. Imagine if every time you went for a run, you stopped every couple of minutes. I'm not against intervals, I just don't want them all the time.

My goal is design workouts to be done with more intensity, typically against the clock.

Audience

If you're a CrossFitter with minimal equipment, a kettlebell fanatic looking for someone new, or just want to give it a try.

Equipment

At a minimum I recommend:

  • One 16kg kettlebell for men, 12kg for women.

Some workouts are going to incorporate multiple kettlebells, of different weights, and some gymnastics movements. So on occasion you'll need:

  • Doubles of 16kg, 20kg, and 24kg kettlebells.
  • A pull up bar.
  • Occasionally a heavy bell for swings, 32kg or more.

All of these weights are suggestions. If you're unsure what weight you should use, choose low, you'd be surprised how hard a workout can be with a 16kg bell.
